IDENTIFICATION: The Sarasa Comet is a single-tailed goldfish originating from China. Know for its brilliant red color often contrasted against white, this goldfish is a favorite among pond enthusiasts.Ā 

DIET: Floating fish pellets are readily accepted. Supplementing with shelled green peas, live red-worms or freeze dried shrimp will meet their nutritional needs.Ā 

SPAWNING: Usually occurs in the spring of the year after an abrupt temperature change. Males use tubercles (a small, spur-like growth on the gill cover) to encourage females to release their eggs. Goldfish are egg-scatterers, often dispersing their eggs onto submerged aquatic vegetation.

HUSBANDRY TIPS: Goldfish thrive in ponds that have ample space, good water quality and proper nutrition. Often considered winter-hardy, goldfish prefer water depths of at least 18ā€.
